Mission of the Military museum in Svidnik is to present military history in region of eastern Slovakia through its collection, exhibition and research activities.

In the main building of the museum, there is an exposition documenting military history of eastern Slovakia from 1914 until 1945. The exhibited documents in the first part of exposition focus on the course of WWI in border areas of eastern Slovakia with special respect to offensive of the Russian army through the Dukla Pass in 1944. Displayed exhibits, weapons, uniforms, badges of honour remind of that his-torical period. Other parts of the exposition present military history in the eastern Slovakia in the inter-war period between 1918 and 1939.

Nearby the main building of the museum in Svidnik, the Monument of Soviet army is located, where there are more than 9 thousand soldiers buried there. It was built in 1954 and together with adjacent park where heavy fighting machinery is placed, it is National Cultural Monument.
