The museum of Ukrainian-ruthenian culture in Svidnik has for almost 50 years gathered and through its exhibitions made accessible to public historical reference about Ukrainians and Ruthenians, who live in approximately 250 villages of northeastern Slovakia, along the Slovak-Polish border, beginning with easternmost village of Nova Sedlica in the Snina district up to westernmost village of Osturna in the Poprad district. It has three expositions and is one of oldest specialized national minority museums in Slovakia.
Main exposition of the museum is the cultural-historical that documents basic stages of cultural-historical, political and social development of that people. The exposition is divided chronologically and includes the periods from the primeval ages, through feudalism, modern times up to contemporary days. There are unique archaeological findings like mammoth's tusk and tooth from the vicinity of Svidnik, stone axes, amphoral cases, medieval written records about foundings of particular villages, documents about social and national position of the population, samples of material and spiritual culture, including documentation of literary efforts of Ukrainians and Ruthenians in Slovakia.
